ORT Technical Institute’s Department of Health Career Professions offers certificates in three comprehensive programs that are in high demand within the healthcare field: Medical Office Assistant, Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. All of our Medical Certification programs take less than a year to complete. As “A Welcoming Community of Practical Learning” we are committed to helping our students become productive healthcare professionals. Our instructors are medical professionals who help you to develop skills in the administration of the medical office. Learning medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology are the fundamentals for all three programs. You will learn how to manually and electronically code medical diagnoses and procedures and submit medical claims to insurance companies using the software available in ORT’s computer labs. As a Medical Assistant student you will learn how to perform various medical/clinical procedures such as: taking medical histories and vital signs, drawing blood from patients, giving injections, conducting lab tests, explaining procedures to patients, preparing patients for the examination and assisting the doctor during the exam. Pharmacy Technician students learn how to administer, inventory and produce pharmaceuticals as well as the regulations and procedures involved in working at pharmacies and drug stores. All the students in our healthcare training programs carry out procedures in the clinical laboratory and through externships. You will be involved in various career development activities and are prepared to sit for your respective national certification exams. Zarem/Golde ORT Technical Institute is approved as the testing site for the medical national certification exams for all of our programs. ORT medical training and pharmacy training students must be a high school graduate or equivalent, pass the school's entrance exam and be interviewed by the Admissions Department. Class size is limited to one student per computer, you will be trained on industry standard software. Appropriate medical equipment will be provided in a laboratory or clinical setting. The average class size is 12 students but no more than 15. We provide small classes to increase learning speed, retention and teacher attention. |
